From Vietnam to the UK: Why I Started Càphinique

Have you ever walked into a café and felt… underwhelmed?

The same neutral interiors. The same drink options. The same “safe” flavors. Everything feels polished — but nothing feels alive.
If you’ve ever wished for something different — something bold, exciting, and full of character — you're not alone.
I felt the same way.

When I moved from Vietnam to the UK, I found comfort in seeing coffee culture so deeply rooted here. But something was missing. Not just from the drinks, but from the entire café experience.
There was no sense of chaos, no grit, no bite. The flavors were clean — but flat. The menus were curated — but cautious. The spaces were quiet — but disconnected.

I missed home.
More than anything, I missed the street cafés of Vietnam. The ones where life happens in the open air. Where people sit shoulder-to-shoulder on low stools, sipping iced coffee, laughing, snacking, debating, connecting.
Where food isn't plated — it's piled. Where tea isn’t trendy — it’s essential. Where coffee doesn’t apologize for being strong.

I didn’t just want to remember that energy — I wanted to bring it here.

That’s how the idea for Càphinique was born.

I dreamed of a place that would introduce people in the UK to a different kind of café — one rooted in Vietnamese street culture, but reimagined for a new setting.
A place that respects tradition, but isn’t stuck in the past.
A place where someone walking in for the first time can taste something bold, feel something honest, and leave with something unforgettable.

A New Kind of Café

Càphinique isn’t just about coffee — it’s about culture.

Here’s what we’re bringing to the table:

Robusta Coffee
We brew our coffee the Vietnamese way — slow-dripped, unapologetically bold, and balanced with creamy condensed milk or poured over ice. It’s strong. It’s sweet. It wakes you up.

🧋 Milk Tea & Fruit Tea
Inspired by the bubble tea stalls and fresh juice shops of Saigon, our teas are full-flavored, colorful, and refreshing. From classic milk tea with boba to citrusy fruit teas packed with real ingredients — we don’t water anything down.

🥖 Bánh Mì
Our bánh mì is classic, crisp, and layered with bold fillings — from grilled meats to fresh herbs, pickled veg, and our own house sauces. It's the perfect bite: crunchy, savory, tangy, spicy.

🍲 Phở Noodle
A steaming bowl of phở is a comfort like no other. Our broth is slow-simmered, our herbs are fresh, and our flavors are true to tradition. It’s not a side dish — it’s a moment.

Who This Is For

Càphinique is for the curious.
It’s for the people who are tired of the usual.
It’s for the homesick students missing Vietnamese flavors.
It’s for the locals looking to discover something new.
It’s for everyone who believes cafés should be full of life — not just laptops.

Whether you're Vietnamese, British, or anything in between, we want you to feel seen when you walk through our doors. To feel welcome, understood, and inspired to try something different.

More Than a Café

Càphinique is my way of sharing a piece of home — through flavor, through story, through atmosphere.

It’s more than a business. It’s a bridge between cultures.
A conversation starter.
A love letter to Vietnam, written in coffee and tea and crusty bánh mì.
